Giulio takes third in national wrestling championships


While his dad was coaching the American Falls High School wrestling team at the state tournament, former American Falls resident V.J. Giulio (third from left) was wrestling in the national championship for the National Junior College Athletic Association in Des Moines, IA. Giulio took third in the 197 pound weight division and contributed to North Idaho College’s first place finish at the championships.

North Idaho College and Labette Community College, from Kansas, both tallied 120 team points to stake claim to the national title on Saturday, Feb. 23. For North Idaho it is the 14th national championship in wrestling and first since 2003. Labette won a second straight national title and third overall.
