AFHS track stars shine on home turf

With an 11 ft. high jump, Austin Patterson set a personal record on the pole vault when American Falls High School hosted a meet on Friday, April 12. He took first place in the event. Also taking first place for American Falls was Sander Saiz, who finished first in the 100 meter and 200 meter races with times of 11 seconds and 22.91 seconds respectively, also personal bests.

Patterson also took third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.45 and the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 46.68. Saiz took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 17”7’.

Other highlights from the boys team include Miguel Ortiz coming in second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.14 and Justin Longoria coming in fifth with a time of 24.88. Koti Franco and Bill Rowe came in fifth and sixth in the 400 meter race with times of 59.19 and 59.76 respectively.

Ethan Funk took fifth place in the shot put with a 38’ 00.5” throw, and second in the discus, with a 115’04.5” throw. Bo Patterson took fifth in the discus, with a 105’2” throw. Justin Longoria took third in the high jump with a height of 5’2” and Ortiz took second in the triple jump with a distance of 39’. George Barrett took fourth in the event with a distance of 36’3.5”.

On the girls’ team, Hannah Pratt took second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.86, Hailey Driscoll took fourth with a time of 13.25, and Madison Breding took fifth with a time of 13.41. Alexis Ogier took second in the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles with times of 20.40 and 1:01.5.

In the 200 meter race, Pratt took third with a time of 28.14. Sara Ayala took fifth in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:54.71. In the 100 meter relay, the team of Driscoll, Shelby Hunt, Madison Breding and Pratt took second with a time of 53.36.

Dakota Johnson took fifth in the shot put with a distance of 26’8.5” and fourth in the discus with a distance of 73’.
