Beaver baseball splits with Preston, loses to Bear Lake twice

Solid pitching from sophomore Mitch Deagle could not save the American Falls High School baseball team when facing Bear Lake on Wednesday, April 17. Bear Lake won 7-4.

Still, said Coach Kurt May, the Beavers worked hard to keep Bear Lake to seven runs and played well during the game.

The Beavers went on to play in the Preston Tournament on Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20. They played four games during the tournament, winning one and losing three.

American Falls had a narrow loss to Preston at the beginning of the tournament, losing 3-1. The Beavers than came back to beat Preston 15-5.

The Beavers then faced Sugar Salem, losing 13-8 and then lost 13-3 against Bear Lake.

Offensive lapses for the team has put a lot of pressure on the defense, May said, and allows opposing teams to run away with an inning during the game. He saw some good things happen in the tournament, he said, and hopefully things will go well over the next two weeks.

The Beavers play tonight, Wednesday, April 24, against Marsh Valley at Marsh Valley.
