To the editor,
We are trying to raise money to put some playground equipment at Posse Park. The city has been trying to save money for the past several years, but with the park budget being so small it has not reached the amount that will be needed.
We are asking for the community’s help in raising money for this project. We have contacted Simplot, but we will still need your help to complete this project.
Posse Park is being used more and more by families and churches and older youth. We have a place to play basketball, a place for volleyball, baseball and soccer, but we don’t have much for the younger children to do. So we would like to change this and put a nice playground for them to play on at the north end of the park.
The American Legion Auxiliary has offered to do a fundraiser by having a waffle supper at the golf course on Saturday, June 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. There will be pies and cakes there for a silent auction. Please support them!
We would also like to have a memorial walkway going to and around the playground.
You can buy a brick in memory of someone special to you. The bricks will sell for $50. The brick will have the names engraved on it and placed on the memorial walkway for everyone to see.
Being that the park is on the land where the Boot and Saddle Club would do their practicing and performing and is now called Posse Park, we will be contacting families of the members of the Boot and Saddle Club to see if they would like to purchase a brick in remembrance of their family member. We would like to have their names on the walkway also. There will be a military memorial on one side of the playground for those who have served in the armed forces if you want to buy at brick for them.
Anyone that would like to just donate some money to this project can send all donations to the City of Aberdeen, PO Box 151, Aberdeen, ID 83210. We will have a donation board with all the names of those who donated money and time to the playground project.
Your help with this project will be much appreciated.
