The Elephant

When I was a little boy I loved the circus. What I loved most about the circus was the animals, my favorite animal was the elephant. He was my favorite for his uncommon strength, huge stature, and intelligence when it came to acrobatic acts.

However, after his act the elephant was tied up. They tied him up from his legs to a skinny chain held only by a nail and a few centimeters of land. I asked myself why an animal capable of ripping trees out of the ground stayed a slave to that nail. Why didn’t he flee?

I asked my father, a teacher, my uncle and many others. They all agreed that the elephant did not flee because he was accustomed to it. I then wondered, if this was true then why was the elephant chained up?

I never did receive a coherent response. As time went on I forgot about it. Now as I have grown older I understand why the elephant did not escape.

The circus elephant did not escape because he had been tied up from a young age. Can you imagine it? After tireless efforts of trying to escape as a young one, pushing and trying to yank the nail out of the ground the elephant realized he did not have the strength. At that point the elephant gave up.

He had a mindset from a young age he knew he would never be free. That is how anyone who as a child received negative words is affected. These words affected their minds and potential, keeping the child chained to the memory of destructive thoughts such as, “you are worthless” “you are stupid” or with comparisons that remain within the child forever.

What is it that prohibits you from going after your dreams and goals? Remember, you are a person created in the image of God and he gave you potential, intelligence and power to be happy and courageous! The Apostle Pablo said: I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Philippians 4:13.

No recuerdo haber recibido ninguna respuesta coherente.
Filipenses 4;13.
