The Idaho Eight-Man Football All-Star game was held at Lighthouse Christian Academy in Twin Falls on Saturday, June 22, with the east beating the west for the fourth year in a row, 56-14.
Rockland football coach Lalo Hidalgo and RHS player Colton Robison were selected to take part in the annual game.
Hidalgo said the game was a chance to work with great players from all over the state.
“It was amazing to see these kids come together. You would never have known they only had two days of practice by watching them play. The transition was seamless,” Hidalgo said.
At the end of the game Robison was selected as the defensive most valuable player and Hidalgo was asked to coach the east team next year.
The experience was filled with highlights for Hidalgo.
“It was neat to be a part of the program again this year. My son played on the east team and was also selected as the defensive most valuable player. It was a thrill to be asked to coach again, but the real plus from this year was being able to coach Colton again. He is a great kid,” said Hidalgo.
Robinson is scheduled to depart for boot camp in the near future where he will train to be a field medic.
