Cowboys compete for $18,613 purse


Cowboys and cowgirls took to their mounts in big numbers, competing for $18,613.70 in prize money, during the RD Kuttler – Roger Whitnah Memorial Rodeo held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10 and 11, at the Power County Fairgrounds.

Events, top finishers and their scores and times for the rodeo were:

Saddle Bronc Riding: Tanner Denton, first, 79; Bailey Bench, second, 71; Kip Denton, third, 69; Dustin Bierre, fourth, 68.

Bull Riding: Sager Navarez, first, 64; Ryne Barrington, second, 62; Josh Toomer, third, 58.

Tie Down Roping: Jobe Johns, first, 8.9; Scott Rogers, second, 12.3; Coy Surrett, third, 19.6; Jared Parke, fourth, 24.6; Kyle VanBiezen, fifth, 25.1.

Steer Wrestling: Stetson Jorgenson, first, 6.1; Ryne Barrington, second, 6.4; Colton Hill, third, 6.5; Jared Parke, fourth, 23.0.

Open Team Roping: Stephen Ramone and Leo Ramone, first, 4.5; Kelsey Phillips and Clint Harry, second, 4.6; Brett Sheehan and Stoney Fred, third, 4.8; Casey Cummings and Clay Gunshow, fourth, 5.1; Casey Brunson and Jared Parke and Max Kuttler and Stoney Fred, tied for fifth and sixth, 5.4; Casey Brunson and Stoney Fred, seventh, 5.4; and Clay Berry and Jason Warner, eighth, 9.9.

#LO Team Roping: Brogan Bennett and Coy Surrett, first, 5.6; Harold Anderson and Todd Anderson, second, 6.6; Ryan Stroud and Cody Surrett, third, 7.5; Kallie Harral and Byron Duffin, fourth, 9.7; Braxton Elison and Ty Elison, fifth, 10.5.

Power County Team Roping: Brian Morris and James Evans, first, 17.5; Jason Brower and Rochelle Whitnah, second, 24.3; Rex Swim and James Evans, third, 25.2; Brian Morris and Cody Evans, fourth, 27.7.

Fast Time: Tied for first at 8.0, Rex Swim and Tylor Skenandore and Brian Morris and James Evans.

Short Go: Larry Bell and Max Kuttler, first, 9.0.
