The American Falls High School football team made a strong defensive effort in their home opener against Kimberly, but failed to secure a win, dropping the game 21-7.

Bo Hohenfield led the Beavers in defense. According to Coach Tyler Shafer the efforts of Hohenfield and the rest of the Beaver defense kept Kimberly from running away with the game.

“Hohenfield played awesomely all night. Defensively we missed a few assignments, but they really kept us in the game,” said Shafer.

According to Shafer the lack of offensive production has hurt the Beavers in both of the games this season.

“Unfortunately the offense executed poorly. We would like to be further along with our offensive progress at this point in the season, but we are making steps in the right direction,’ said Shafer.

Despite the slow start to the season for the Beavers, Shafer said there is reason to be optimistic.

“If we keep working hard and stay committed; I like our prospects for the rest of the year,” Shafer said.

The Beavers will travel to Filer on Friday, Sept. 13, then return home to face West Side on Friday, Sept 20, for Homecoming.
