Homecoming ended roughly for the Beavers, falling 44-8 to the West Side Pirates.
American Falls opened the game early by scoring first and following the touchdown with a two-point conversion, however the Pirates struck back quickly by scoring on the kick-off return.
After that the Beavers were not able to build any type of momentum on either side of the ball. Offensively the Beavers rushed for 228 yards and picked up 49 yards in the air for the night. West Side at the same time amassed 399 yards rushing and 77 yards in the air.
Head Coach Tyler Shafer said American Falls started the game mentally strong, but waivered toward the end.
“We came out with great intensity, but we have to learn to sustain over four quarters,” Shafer said.
On the defensive side of the ball Shafer said the Pirates were a tighter unit.
“West Side was simply more disciplined and executed much better than we did,” said Shafer.
American Falls High School football has an off week to regroup and will then take to the road to face Soda Springs on Friday, Oct. 4.
