Lady Tigers fall twice

The Aberdeen Lady Tiger basketball team hosted West Jefferson on Thursday, Dec. 5, and fell 56-33. They then traveled to Ririe Friday, Dec. 6, and lost 63-19.

Against West Jefferson coach Karalee Bonzon reported the Lady Tigers had a rough game.

“This was the first game back from the Thanksgiving break. We didn’t show up mentally so it was hard to get any flow on offense or defense, she said They had a low shooting percentage (20%) that contributed to the loss.

Makenna Schritter led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 9 points. She was followed by Kaitlin Jolley with 6 points, Patricia Gonzalez and Madi Behrend each with 5 points, Karissa Ramos with 4 points and Alexis Carrasco and Makenzie Rucker with 2 each.

The junior varsity team beat West Jefferson 44-29 with Tasha Pocock leading the team with 18 points, followed by Makenna Schritter with 8 points, Josefina Uribe with 6 points, Zoe Behrend with 5 points, Esmerelda Rangel with 3 points, Makenzie Rucker with 2 points, and Baylee Wahlen and Betty Carrillo each with 1 point.

“Ririe shot around 60 percent from the field and we didn’t step up on the defensive end. We did better on the boards on our second go with Ririe, but we couldn’t capitalize on the put back,” Bonzon said.

Kira Shelman and Karissa Ramos led the Lady Tigers with 5 points each. They were followed by Kaitlin Jolley with 4 points, Josefina Uribe with 3 points, and Madi Behrend with 2 points.

The Lady Tigers will travel to American Falls Wednesday, Dec. 11, to West Jefferson Thursday, Dec. 12, and host South Fremont Saturday, Dec. 14. The away games will be at 6/7:30 and the home game is 5:30/7 p.m.
