Lady Tigers earn big conference win

Not only did the Lady Tiger basketball team get their first win of the season, it was also a district win in overtime against the West Side Lady Pirates 63-60.

“The girls gave 100 percent against West Side for the whole 36 minutes of play. West Side tried to press us for a large majority of the game, but we were very successful in breaking it and setting up our offense,” coach Karalee Bonzon said. “We shot a lot in this game in part because of our rebounding. We were able to have two and three chances to score rather than one. Defensively, we rotated quickly and communicated well which led to 24 steals.”

Makenna Schritter led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 17 points. She was followed by Karissa Ramos with 15, Patricia Gonzalez with 12, Kira Shelman with 7, Kaitlin Jolley with 6 and Alexis Carrasco with one.
