Lady Tigers drop two games last week

The Aberdeen Lady Tiger basketball team lost two games last week. They hosted both North Fremont and Malad. The Lady Tigers played North Fremont on Thursday, Jan. 2 falling 22-66. They then hosted Malad on Saturday, Jan. 4 dropping 21-48 to the Lady Dragons.

“North Fremont came to play. They are a very quick team and we just couldn’t stop their offense. We couldn’t get position on th inside and our shots wouldn’t fall on the perimeter,” said Coach Karalee Bonzon said.

Kira Shelman led the Lady Tigers in scoring with eight points. She was followed by Makenna Schritter with four points, Josefina Uribe with three points, Patricia Gonzalez, Alexis Carrasco and Tasha Pocock each with two points and Kaitlin Jolley with one point.

The junior varsity team lost North Fremont 35-38 with Tasha Pocock leading the team with 18 points, followed by Josefina Uribe with 10 points, Makenzie Rucker with 5 points and Zoe Behrend with 2 points.

“Malad was our second district game We threw the ball away too many times and they capitalized on our mistakes,” Bonzon said.

Karissa Ramos led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 9 points. She was followed by Kaitlin Jolley with 8 points and Makenna Schritter and Madi Behrend with 2 points each.

“We are looking forward to the next time we play Malad. I know they are a beatable team,” Bonzon said.

The Lady Tigers will travel for three games in a row, facing South Fremont on Thursday, Jan. 9, Soda Springs on Saturday, Jan. 11, and then Rockland on Wednesday Jan. 15.
