Lady Tigers end season on a great note

The Aberdeen Lady Tiger basketball team played three games in the district tournament last week losing to Malad twice and beating West Side.

First, they traveled to Malad on Tuesday and lost 52-33.

“Malad’s defense was really tight and we didn’t adjust properly, only taking 37 shots and pulling down 13 rebounds,” coach Karalee Bonzon said.

Makenna Schritter led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 11 points. She was followed by Tasha Pocock with 8, Kaitlin Jolley with 7, Chantel Inskeep with 5 and  Karissa Ramos with 2 points.

Their next game was at home against West Side and the Lady Tigers picked up the victory 60-50.

“The girls were excited to host a district game and it showed out on the court, scoring 22 points in the first quarter. We shut down their two big posts and capitalized on offense. We were very consistent on both ends of the court,” Bonzon said.

Makenna Schritter led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 25 points. She was followed by Kaitlin Jolley and Patricia Gonzalez each with 11, Karissa Ramos with 4, Chantel Inskeep and Madi Behrend with 3 each, Kira Shelman with 2 and Alexis Carrasco with 1 point.

Saturday they again faced Malad and fell 47-38.

“The elimination game against Malad on Saturday was an up tempo game. We showed up to play and Malad knew it right away. A few too many turnovers and fouls in the third quarter was the difference in the game.” Bonzon said.

Makenna Schritter again led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 18 points. She was followed by Josefina Uribe with 10, Patricia Gonzalez with 5, Kaitlin Jolley with 3, and Chantel Inskeep and Karissa Ramos with 1 point each.

“Overall the girls did a great job in the district tournament and they left the season on a great note,” Bonzon said.
