To the editor,
In the recent school board meeting report there were several comments about grounds keeping at our Aberdeen schools.
I live across the street from the elementary school and I can say that in bad winter weather there are many mornings when I hear the engine of the groundskeeper’s four-wheel mule working on the walkways as early as 5:30 or 6 a.m.
Also, I work for the school and I know of the countless occasions when the groundskeeper and the maintenance man have come in on a Saturday or a Sunday to take care of emergencies that could not wait.
The school grounds are not perfect, of course, and I would be the last to say that there is no room for improvement in all our jobs, custodial, maintenance and grounds, but dependability and dedication should not be ignored.
