After competing in twelve District 4 rodeos in Pocatello, American Falls and Blackfoot the awards banquet was held Monday May 19, in Blackfoot.
Schools in District Four are Snake River, Shelley, Firth, Blackfoot, Shoban, Pocatello, Highland, Century, American Falls, Aberdeen and Rockland. Awards were given to the top six contestants in each of the eleven events. These contestants will participate at the Idaho High School Rodeo Finals held at the Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello, Saturday, June 7 – 14.
Local contestants that qualified for state are: Lexie Lehman of Aberdeen qualified in all 4 of her events Pole bending, first, barrel racing, fourth, breakaway, fourth and goat tying,fourth. She also earned the Reserve All-Around Cowgirl. Hailey Driscoll of American Falls qualified in her two events, barrel racing, first and pole bending, second. Cassidy Swanson of American Falls took sixth in Pole bending. Jessica Morris, first Queen Attendant will be competing in the Queen Contest. Stetson Nielsen of Aberdeen qualified in steer wrestling, fourth and he tied with Caleb Bradshaw of Rockland in the tie-down roping for the fifth and sixth spots. Caleb also took second in the Team Roping with his partner Payson Smith.
Other members of the Aberdeen/American Falls/Rockland Rodeo Club are EmmyLou Nugent, Sadie Nugent, Hunter Morris, Gus Kuttler, Tyler Scherer, Travis Dahlke and Justin Wiscombe. Upcoming stars for the rodeo club participating as Junior Wranglers were Jacee Nielsen, Chance Moldenhauer, Caylee Bradshaw and Cooper Bradshaw.
