State park suggested for Rock Creek

Fish and Game could oversee
highway district strip of land

A popular Power County recreation area could someday be an Idaho State Park, according to one suggestion by a state official. The area, the East Fork of Rock Creek, was at one time overseen by Idaho Fish and Game, but Fish and Game pulled out of its oversight.

On the other hand, Idaho Fish and Game could pick up oversight of a different strip of land now managed by the Power County Highway District.

The Rock Creek area near Rockland has been a popular destination for recreationists for years. The area was occasionally patrolled by Fish and Game officers, and maintained by Power County’s Waterways Department….
