AFHS soccer teams split with Minico


The American Falls girls’ soccer team started the season off with a bang by defeating Minico 11-0 on Saturday, Aug 24.

Continuing where the team left off last season, Maria Sanchez scored five goals and logged three assists. Alma Rangel added four goals to the total and three assists. Sayli Snow also found the back of the net twice, as well as notching two assists for the game. Newcomer Maria Carrillo made her mark with one goal and one assist as well.

Coach Karissa Fischer said, based on the team’s performance in Minico, she is expecting good things from the team.

“The girls looked good. I think this will be a big year,” said Fisher.

While the girls’ soccer team traveled to Minico, the American Falls High School boys’ soccer team hosted Minico on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The Beavers fell to Minico 2-1 with Jose Mata picking up the goal for American Falls.
