WTMS wrestlers win 13th consecutive district title

The WTMS Wrestlers brought home another district title on Friday, Nov. 15, extending the school’s streak to 13.

The tournament held in Grace, hosted 10 teams including WTMS varsity and junior varsity teams.

The WTMS varsity team picked up the title with 322 team points, more than 130 points over second place Grace. The WTMS JV team placed ninth with 57 points.

Head Coach Jim Giulio said adding another championship to the streak is a point of pride for the WTMS team.

“Most of these boys were not even born when the streak started, but all of them take pride in adding to the history and greatness of this wrestling program,” Giulio said.

Individual champions include: Tanner Hansen 70 pounds; Boone Giulio 110 pounds Cameron Henesh 125 pounds; Russell Adkins 130 pounds; Luis Cervantes 140 pounds; Brian Brandamill 145 pounds; Chris Ervin 152 pounds; James Ramsey 160 pounds; and John Blair 189 pounds.

Wrestlers bringing home second places medals include: Josh Ervin 152 pounds; Corben Boyer 171 pounds; and Kordell Hymas heavyweight.

Third place finishers include: Jose Jaime 75 pounds; Ricardo Jaime 85 pounds; Logan Kress 100 pounds; Wyatt Kern 105 pounds; Chance Moldenhauer 135 pounds; and Ceser Lopez 171 pounds.
