Petition to raise the minimum wage

To the editor,

There is an initiative to gradually raise the minimum wage in Idaho. All that are in favor of this, should come to the American Falls Library meeting room on Thursday, Dec. 12, anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to sign the petition.

The state of Idaho needs 53,751 valid signatures to be able to put this initiative on the ballot for Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014.

Right now the minimum wage in Idaho is $7.25. It would be helpful to many families for this to be increased to $8.10 for the year 2015, $8.95 for 2016 and $9.80 for 2017.

All registered voters can sign the petition and people that would like to get registered can do so and then sign the petition at the same time. We will also have separate petitions for other counties, so if you live in Power, Bannock, Bingham or Cassia counties you will be able to sign a petition.
