October 9, 1920 – December 23, 2013
Fern Leone Tyler Udy, our loving mother, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, in American Falls, ID. She was born Oct. 9, 1920, in Rockland, ID, the daughter of Marvin and Emma Hunter Tyler. She married Grant M. Udy on April 3, 1937, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on Nov. 26, 1988.
She and Dad lived and farmed in Rockland until 1996 and then moved to American Falls. Mom enjoyed reading, crocheting and being outdoors. She was an excellent cook and put many meals on the table for family, friends and strangers. She was a faithful visiting teacher and dedicated Primary secretary for many years. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s’ sporting events.
Her three sisters – Emily, Elsie and Vera; and her six brothers – Clint, Raymond, Harold, Clarence, Verl and Dale, preceded her in death. She is survived by seven children: Eva Beth Spillett (Ted), Pocatello, ID; Richard Udy (Linda), serving a mission in West Virginia; Marva Jean Knudsen, Bountiful, UT; Dalene Widerburg (Larry), Woods Cross, UT; Merrill George Udy (Shirley), American Falls, ID; Roland Udy (Vicky), Sacramento, CA; Blaine Udy (Debbie), American Falls, ID. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren (two on the way) and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Dad preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1998. One great-grandson, Austin Jensen, also preceded her in death.
Viewing was Sunday, Dec. 29, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Davis-Rose Mortuary in American Falls. There was a viewing at the church prior to Monday’s service. It goes from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 30, at 12 p.m. at the Rockland Ward LDS Church, Rockland, ID. Interment was in the Rockland Cemetery.
