A celebration of life for Galyn (Slick) Jensen will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, at 453 Vassar Way, Idaho Falls, from 2 until 8 p.m. Galyn recently passed away in his sleep.
Galyn was born to Ello and Joann Jensen at Power County hospital in American Falls, ID April 17, 1963.
He resided with his family in Aberdeen, until his family moved to American Falls, where he attended grade school and high school where he excelled in track, winning several ribbons, and also was in basketball and wrestling.
In 1978 at age 15, he moved with his family to Idaho Falls, where he attended Skyline High School and participated in track and again won several ribbons.
In 1980 Galyn broke his neck in a car accident and was in the University Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT, for two weeks and recovered at his home in Idaho Falls.
After graduation, Galyn attended Vo-Tech and majored in diesel mechanics. Galyn was always interested in mechanics. At the age of 12, he took his first motor out of a car and put it back in with very little help. He was noted by his friends and acquaintances as one of the best diesel mechanics in the state of Idaho.
In 1980, Galyn married Tammy Oden and they had one beloved son, Jesse Karey Jensen. Galyn & Tammy were later divorced in 2006.
In 1989, Galyn again broke his neck and was readmitted to the University of Utah for two weeks and later recovered at his home in Idaho Falls.
Because of his two broken necks, Galyn suffered from violent headaches and grand mall seizures.
Galyn enjoyed boating, fishing, football (Miami Dolphins), and Nascar Racing.
Galyn was also known for helping anyone who was in need. Helping people move, fixing their vehicles, etc.
Galyn worked for several trucking companies in the Idaho Falls area including Burggraph Construction, S.O.S Transportation, Doug Andrus Trucking, American Carriage, Edwards Bros. Trucking, Purple Sage Trucking, Kingston Trucking, Utility Trailers and Walker Farms.
Galyn married Dixie Evans in 2011 and they were later divorced.
Galyn lived with his mother for the last seven months.
Galyn is survived by his mother, Joann Jensen, his beloved son, Jesse Karey Jensen, his sister Terri Marie Jensen of Portland, OR, several nieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews.
Galyn was preceded in death by his father, Ello Orlando Jensen, and his brother, Karey Gail Jensen.
Donations will be deeply appreciated in lieu of flowers. Refreshments will be served. Casual wear, 2 to 8 p.m.
