Velma Anderson, 92, of Aberdeen, Idaho passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Velma was born February 25, 1922 in Oxford, Idaho to Owen E. Kendall and Susan Walker. She lived her lifetime in Aberdeen, Idaho. She attended Oxford Idaho Grade School and Aberdeen High School.
On June 28, 1938 Velma married Glenn Anderson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The marriage was later solomized in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 35, 1953. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2011.
Velma had worked at the movie theater, The Sweet Shop, Valley Supply, and the grocery store ,all in Aberdeen. Velma then worked at the Highway Store for her daughter, Glenna.
In her earlier years, Velma enjoyed square dancing. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, embroidery and tole painting. She loved to go in the summer with her husband and family to Palisades with the sheep.
Velma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a counselor in the Primary, in the Relief Society and made shawls for the new babies in the ward.
Velma is survived by her son, Gerald (Roberta) Anderson of Hamilton, Montana; daughters, Glenna Casias of Aberdeen and Susan Joanne Nugent of Sterling; sister, Erma Holt of Meridian, Idaho; nine grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; sons-in-law, Johnny Nugent and Frank Casias; brothers, Wilford, LaVell, Arnold, Howard and Glen; sisters, Eva and Sarah; grandchildren, Teri Kay Fisk and Griffin “Skip” Fisk and great grandson, Brady Findlay.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Aberdeen LDS Church, 213 N 4th W, in Aberdeen. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon prior to services at the church. Interment will follow services at the Aberdeen Cemetery.
