Have some pickles with your popcorn

“Well you’ve been married two months. Should be smooth sailing from here on out hahaha,” texted Marc.

Two months down. It’s only taken two months for me to find out something new about Adriana. She likes to put whole pickles in her popcorn. To me, that just looks like a good bag of popcorn being wasted. To her, it’s a snack she has grown up loving. Her sister said, “It’s the only way to popcorn.” I don’t want to be close-minded but that’s something I just don’t think I’ll get used to.

We had the popcorn and everything set up because we were getting ready to watch a scary movie. Adriana is starting to hate watching movies with me because I have a pretty good idea of what will happen. She thinks it’s awful when I say something will happen and three minutes later it does. I think it’s awful because I ruin the surprise for myself. Misery loves company. We watched a movie her friend loaned to us. Her friend said, “My friend and I both tried guessing who the killer was and we were both wrong.” I took it upon myself to make an educated guess as quick as possible in the movie. Within the first five minutes of the movie I had a gut feeling it was the first guy on the screen. Not until the very end did we found out I was right. Every time I get something right, Adriana starts to hate watching movies with me more and more. I think I’m going to start guessing wrong so she won’t hate it as much. Or I could be quiet… but where’s the fun in that?

We are moving into a house, finally, within this coming week or so. We also are planning on throwing a house warming/Halloween party on Halloween. We’ll see how that goes. Getting everything together is hard enough, now I did the honor of giving us a deadline to have it ready by.

It’s October, and so it’s also playoff baseball. The Chicago Cubs have finally made it back to the National League Championship Series. They are eight wins away from winning the world series for the first time since 1908. One of the longest droughts in professional sports.

If anyone has ever seen the Back to the Future movies, they would know that in the second installment, Marty McFly travels from 1985 to 2015. He comes across hoverboards and all kinds of things that haven’t really happened yet. One thing that is still possible, is the Cubs winning the world series. Marty is trying to figure out a way to get back to the present and he runs by a stadium with a hologram saying, “WAY TO GO CUBBIES!” In the paper he looks at, it also says they swept the series in five games which would mean they switched the format from a seven game series to a nine game series. But they might have called it from 30 years in the past. As a Red Sox fan, I can root for the Cubs some, just because I know what type of monkey they have on their back. The Red Sox also went through an incredible championship drought before winning it three times in the past decade.

Sports and movies are two things I indulge in… too much, probably.

My world series prediction, in spite of what the movies tell us, is the New York Mets versus the Kansas City Royals. The Royals win it in six games.
