Aberdeen’s mayor retires, retirement party set

After over 46 years with the City of Aberdeen as a council member and mayor, A. Morgan Anderson is retiring.

He was born on Dec. 19, 1933, 2½ miles south of Aberdeen and has lived in Aberdeen his whole life. He and his wife, Bobbie, have five children and one foster Indian daughter, 27 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.

Anderson’s career started at the city when he was elected to the city council on Nov. 5, 1963. He served until January 1980 for a total of 16 years. Anderson was later appointed to fill the vacant city council position of Larry Barrett on Sept. 3, 1985. In November 1985, …
