In a special meeting held Wednesday, Jan. 6, the Aberdeen School District trustees approved the visions committee recommendation for the High School remodel for master site plan A1C. They also discussed the need for a classroom to accommodate Home Economics. At the regular meeting held Wednesday, Jan. 20, they were informed how the bond process works. Superintendent Jane Ward said if the bond levy passes, which election will be held Tuesday, May 10, the bond will be put online by Zion’s Bank and companies will bid for the bond.
Currently the district is making an annual payment of $614,127 on the existing middle school bond. The final payment for that bond will be made in July 2017.
Present at the meeting were chairman Herb Bohrer, vice chair Elaine Blik, Todd Lowder, Mike Shackelford and Braden Driscoll.
Ward tanked the bus drivers and Buck Copeland for keeping the children in school during the blustery days. Copeland keeps the buses running during the cold months and they always look clean, she said. Other districts have asked her how the district keeps the buses so clean. She said she appreciates the bus crew and all the hard work they do. Even on the bad days, everything goes well. …
