Rockland residents grill governor on topics at Capital for a Day event

Idaho Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter, in Rockland on Wednesday, Jan, 27, peppered his explanation of tax and other state policy with memories of working for Simplot and of his youth.

And, for the record, Otter has not seen the new Star Wars movie, he said in response to a student’s question. His movie choices feature John Wayne, he said.

Another student asked where is his favorite place in Idaho. His home, he said, which is a ranch in Star, ID.

Otter spoke to Rockland residents as Rockland was declared “capital for a day,” a program where state leaders converge in towns and cities across the state.

Rockland students only stayed for a short time, and the topics soon turned to meatier questions. …
