The American Falls School District asked the community for help with its overcrowding problems, and the community answered.
People came up with all sorts of solutions, from building a whole new school to just rearranging grades in the current schools. Now a committee comprised of volunteers will winnow down the ideas and check their feasibility.
The ideas were brainstormed at a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the American Falls Intermediate School.
Hardly mentioned at the meeting was a failed bond the district attempted to pass last fall. The bond would have remodeled and added on to the American Falls Intermediate School and moved third grade from Hillcrest Elementary to the intermediate school.
It would have also built a new gym at the American Falls High School.
The meeting was to generate new ideas that the district hopes will be a solid plan for another bond election by May. The volunteer committee is going to report back on its findings on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at the intermediate school band room. The district has to let the state and county governments know it is holding a bond election by March 17.
