To the editor,
As we spent Saturday morning watching a game called basketball, at William Thomas Middle School, it was not only entertaining but interesting as well. To watch young people learning the skills of the game. In the process some of the rules were bent but under the direction of good referees who often looked the other way. It often looked like a well-scripted Hollywood comedy.
The coaches doubled as caregivers when often were asked to tie shoe laces, wipe tears and to point out which end of the court was theirs when a young player became confused. By displaying the patience needed to guide young people as they learn a skill. Those that put forth the effort to make all this happen deserve high praise. The parents should be complemented for their work and support. To show our thanks let us attend the sporting events all during the season.
