Aberdeen holds first home track meet in many years


Aberdeen, for the first time in over 40 years, according to high school principal Travis Pincock, hosted a track meet on Wednesday, April 6. The boys’ and the girls’ teams both participated and performed well. Results follow.

In the 100 meters Matthew Klassen took first with a time of 11.68.

In the 200 meters Chris Funk took first with a time of 23.08.

In the 400 meters Jared Carrasco took second place with a time of 53.45.

In the 800 meters Efrain Carrasco took fifth with a time of 2:27.51 and Carson Foster placed fifth in 2:31.07.

In the 1600 meters Carson Foster took fourth place in 5:40.78.

In the 3200 meters Chance Reynolds took fourth place with 12:48.50 and Ryan England took fifth place in 14:01.87.

Victor Klassen took first place in the 110m hurdles – 39″ with a time of 17.83. He also took first place in the 300m hurdles – 36″ with a time of 44.06.

Aberdeen took first place in both the 4×200 relay and the 4×400 relay. Times were 1:33.05 and 3:48.19 respectively.

In the shot put Aberdeen’s Cesar Cerna placed first at 41’ 6.5″, Baltazar Ortiz placed fourth with 32’ 9.25″, Mitchell Spence placed fifth with 32’ 2″ and Javier Uribe placed sixth with 31’ 5″….
