To the editor,
Many thanks go to the patrons of Aberdeen School District for the recent passage of the school bond. Your dedication and support to the faculty, staff and students is beyond admirable. Thanks also go to the many people on the Vision Committee who worked diligently to develop a plan that would benefit the students as well as the community. A good school system is prized by every community and I believe we are one of the best. From dedicated teachers and staff to sparkling clean school buses, polished floors, nutritious and friendly school lunches, and our well maintained building and grounds Aberdeen School District has much to be proud of.
This project could not be accomplished without the support of our mayor, city council and county commissioners. Already community members have offered assistance to defray costs of building. “Thank you” does not begin to portray our deep gratitude.
As the School Board of Trustees evaluated the needs of the district very carefully, it was their desire to provide a facility that will serve the students and patrons for years to come. The new practice gym will provide practical practice times for our student athletes, the vocational building will provide a place to provide lifetime skills, classrooms will be technology ready, and the new auditorium will provide a place for students and patrons to meet and enjoy plays, concerts, and community events.
As we move forward with the new building project it is rewarding to observe the excitement in the classrooms. This excitement certainly serves to fuel our commitment to the students and patrons for years to come.
