At a special meeting held on Tuesday, May 24 city council members voted unanimously to have the city of Aberdeen dispatch go through Bingham County. Chief Chuck Carroll started out by saying he wanted a decision made that night whether the change would be made to keep dispatch or move forward with the switch. Carroll, understanding that there may be people against it, wanted them to have a chance to speak up and maybe help resolve some of their questions or concerns.
Aberdeen Fire Chief Chris Corbridge said his team at the fire department were open minded about the change but want to make sure the right decision is made, concerned that once dispatch is gone the city won’t get it back and recognizing that people would be losing their jobs. Corbridge said there are times he is glad it is here because dispatchers of Aberdeen know the community and they get the right addresses.
