Power County will get a new boat ramp on the western side of the American Falls Reservoir as the water recedes this fall.
The new ramp is a long-time wish for the Power County Waterways Board, said Board Chair Ron Anderson. The board has worked toward a new ramp for nearly 10 years, he said. The board oversees the public boat ramps in the county, including the west boat dock and three ramps on the river beneath the reservoir.
The old ramp is deteriorating after constant wind, sand and waves hitting against it, said Anderson.
“It’s ground up really bad. It’s been there a lot of years,” he said. The project will cost just less than a million dollars.
The Bureau of Reclamation will build the new ramp, and turn the maintenance over to the waterway’s board after its completed.
