Sanchez comes home amid whirlwind of activity

A common sight returned to American Falls last week; Maria Sanchez was practicing soccer in the William Thomas Middle School soccer field.

The soccer player, who plays professionally for the national Mexico U-20 team, scored more goals while playing at American Falls High School than any other player in Idaho history. She went on to play on the Mexican National Team in last year’s World Cup.

The Press caught up with her to ask what she has been up to. She is currently appealing her contract at Idaho State University so that she can play for another college’s team. A few colleges have courted her, but she has to wait until the appeals process is completed before moving on.

Just recently she returned from visiting the campus of Santa Clara University, and may be heading to the University …
