A couple of steps at the Power County Senior Center has its board hoping for an extensive remodel. The board’s wish to replace the steps, which go down into the kitchen, produced a list of related problems the center would like fixed in its aging location.
The board appeared before the county commissioners to gain the commissioners help in applying for grants for the center in the commissioners meeting on Monday, July 11. They were being helped by Kathleen Lewis, a grant writer with the Southeast Idaho Council of Government.
They want to apply for a $150,000 grant, which would need to be handled by the county. Lewis would check to see if some current work on the center, including an extensive remodel to the basement to keep it from leaking, could count as matching funds on the grant they hope to get. The county paid for the basement remodel, which was performed in June. …
