Many Power County residents received a reverse 911 phone call on Wednesday, July 22, about some suspicious haystack fires.
A haystack fire on Monday, July 4, on Lake Channel Road, aroused some suspicions, but when two more haystack fires in nearby Bingham County occurred, the Power County sheriff’s department felt it needed to ask the community to keep a look out.
Haystack fires are unusual, and it is especially unusual to have three separate ones in the same area in one summer, he said. There is an extreme danger of wildfire, and a vandalism could cause extensive damage, he said. …
