City council discusses work around town

No one spoke at a public hearing on the $9.8 million proposed American Falls budget at the American Falls City Council meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The city council may officially adopt the budget at their Wednesday, Sept. 7 meeting.

While no one from the public said anything about the budget, the city council said they had heard plenty about the newly painted lines on repaved streets because the lines are sometimes wavy instead of straight.

They city has its own equipment to paint lines now, creating a savings for the city. However, the equipment will take some time for city crews to gain experience on the equipment before they quite have it down, city council members said.

The equipment also is not as accurate as an outside contractor’s. Council member Kurtis Workman thanked Street Superintendent Daren Dalhke for defending his employees even in the face of criticism…
