The American Falls Library District board of directors has voted to limit access to the community room.
Due to security issues and misuse and abuse of the room, it has been decided that the room will no longer be available after library hours unless it is for Library programs or programs that would be partnering with the library for the informing or benefit of the community, or on a governmental level, such as using it as a voting station, according to library director Kindra Munk.
“Myself and the board, if needed, will decide those evenings that would go beyond that cut-off time,” said Munk.
The room will still be available for public use from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday during winter hours, Friday until 6 p.m., and Saturday until 5 p.m. During summer hours, the room will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday until 5 p.m.
The room will no longer be available on Sundays. This way keys will be not be given out to the community and staff can verify that rules are followed, the proper cleaning has been done, and the building is secured before they leave for the day, solving issues that have become constant problems and a security risk, said Munk. …
