AFHS softball beats Marsh Valley, drops to Snake River and Filer



The American Falls High School softball team picked up a big win against Marsh Valley in a high scoring game on Wednesday, April 24. There were plenty of errors and plenty of runs on both sides, with American Falls coming down on the winning side, 24-13.

The competition started off quickly, with American Falls scoring nine runs in the first inning to Marsh Valley’s seven. Marsh Valley then held American Falls to zero runs while taking the lead by the fourth. The teams traded leads until the seventh inning, when American Falls broke away from Marsh Valley, scoring ten runs and keeping Marsh Valley to zero.

Alyx Morris hit two doubles and a triple in the game, Michelle Glascock hit a single and two doubles, Micala Gillespie hit a single and a double, Ryan Hohenfield hit two singles and a double, Madyson Cutler hit a single, and Riley Morris hit two singles.

The Beavers then lost a close game against Snake River two days later, 3-2. American Falls took the lead, 2-0 in the first inning, and Snake River tied it up in the fourth. The game went into extra innings, with Snake River taking the win in the eighth.

Glascock hit a double, as did Sara Ayala. Hohenfield hit a single, as did Cutler.

They then had another close loss against Filer on Saturday, April 27. Filer won 6-4. American Falls scored two runs in the first inning, and one in the fourth and seventh. Filer scored three runs in the first inning, and single runs in the second, third, and sixth.

Glascock hit a single, as did Karli Call, Ayala and Emily Henesh. Gillespie hit a double, and Hohenfield hit a single and a double.
