The 48th annual Little Buckaroo Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2 and 3, at 7 p.m. in the Firth Riverview Arena. Registration will be held Thursday and Friday, July 25 and 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Firth High School Vo Ag building. All children entering must have a parent or legal guardian’s signature to register.
The events will include Stick Pony Race (4 years of age and under), Ribbon Pull (4 years and under), Chicken Scramble (5 years and under only in arena, no entry fee required), Sheep Riding (5 to 8 years, must weigh 50 pounds or less), Ribbon Tie (5 to 8 years), Goat Roping (5 to 8 years – stick horse), Wild Goat Milking (8 to 12 years), Pig Scramble (8 to 12 years), Barrel Racing (8 to 12 years – horse provided), Sheep Dressing (team – 8 to 12 years), and Calf Riding (9 to 12 years).
The entry fee of $5 per child must be paid at time of registration. One event only per child. The entry fee includes admittance to the rodeo.
Tickets to attend the rodeo are $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. The admittance tickets can be purchased at the gate.
A Cowboy Breakfast will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Firth City Park.
A parade will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. in Firth. The theme of the parade is “All American Cowboy”. Line up for the parade will be at 10:30 at Firth High School. Music will be by the Community Orchestra. Food and other festivities will be after the parade at the city park.
All proceeds from the rodeo will be used toward the Firth FFA and local 4-H programs. For more information call 346-6051 or 339-4831.
