Hospital board debates budget
Accepts resignation of foundation director
The budget requested for capital outlay items was passed with six aye votes and one nay vote. The bone of contention was the request for a vehicle.
Currently the hospital relies on employees vehicles, at a cost of about $4,000 per year plus greater liability, for any errands that must be run. Therefore, a company vehicle was asked for at a cost of $20,000. Board member Jim Chapman was the dissenting vote, stating reasons of cost outlay with little return as his objection.
The largest item on the capital expenditures wish list was a refurbished 4-slice CT scanner and a place to put it that is easier to access than the present system. It was acknowledged that it costs a bit at $180,000, but it could save lives.
The regular budget projection was passed with all votes aye.

Alltel Wireless adds

Several new digital towers
expected across state in 2008

Alltel Wireless is expanding and enhancing wireless coverage and network quality across the state of Idaho with the activation of three new digital cells sites in the second quarter.
The new digital cell sites are located in or near Sugar City, Idaho Falls and Aberdeen. Construction on the Idaho Falls tower began in February and was completed in late April. The new cell tower near the American Falls Reservoir in southwest Bingham County will provide better in-vehicle coverage along Highway 39.
“These new cell sites are part of our continuing commitment to improve and expand our digital footprint in Idaho and other communities we serve across western United States,” said Chris Tuten, Alltel vice president of retail services for Idaho. “Our network operations team is working hard to expand America’s largest network, which will benefit the people who live and work in these communities, as well as the thousands who visit Idaho or travel on our highways and interstates.”
The new cell sites network will enhance coverage and capacity in downtown Idaho Falls and along major roads such as Interstate 15 and State Highways 26 and 20. The tower in Sugar City, just north of Rexburg will improve in-building coverage in the city of Sugar City. It will also provide better in-vehicle coverage along State Highways 20 and 33.
In addition to the current sites, Alltel also is working on site acquisition and regulatory approval for towers in nearly 20 communities for the remainder of 2008. Last year, Alltel invested more than $7 million to expand its wireless network in Idaho, adding eight new digital cell sites to America’s largest wireless network.
Alltel introduced its wireless service in Idaho after merging with Western Wireless and completing a wireless property exchange with U.S. Cellular of Chicago in 2005. Overall, Alltel has more than 120 digital wireless sites across the state of Idaho, bringing better digital wireless quality to such communities as Bloomington, Jerome, Rupert, Ririe, Gooding, Jerome, Cambridge, Filer and Pocatello.
