The American Falls City Council met one day early, on Tuesday, June 16, to have a meeting before the mayor, city clerk, and roughly half of the council went to an out-of-town meeting.
The council talked extensively about next year’s city budget, but were unable to come to any conclusions without more facts. However, the council and city department superintendents talked about keeping the budget similar to last year’s numbers, in anticipation of steady, not increased, revenues.
Comparing the golf fees and rounds from last June to this June, the fees are the same but the number of rounds are lower.
One way to raise money and rounds for the golf course is to be included in a proposed coupon book. On Monday through Thursday, with a coupon, the course would allow a “buy one, get one free” golf round. The cities of Blackfoot and Pocatello are successfully implementing similar programs. It was hoped by the council that people who wouldn’t normally golf could be induced to try the game.
Jim Grauberger, of 110 Sunset Lane, asked the city council if he could be charged for water only on his second lot, while paying for water, sewer, and garbage on his first lot, since he has only one house on the two lots. The council agreed that was a fair request.
There were no comments from citizens and the council voted to dispense with reports. They then went into a closed meeting. |
