Residents of Power County will have an opportunity to learn more about the proposed Rockland Wind Farm at an open house in American Falls on Thursday, Aug. 27. Officials from Ridgeline Energy will be available at the American Falls Public Library from 7-9 p.m.
“The open house is part of our effort to provide information about the project, hear comments and concerns from local residents, and answer questions,” said Jay Williams, Ridgeline’s project manager. “We want the project to be a positive contributor to Southeast Idaho and a good neighbor.”
During the open house, Ridgeline officials will make a brief presentation on the project and will be available to discuss the project with those attending.
Ridgeline plans to build the Rockland wind farm on about 22,000 acres of leased land in Power County. Up to 60 turbines will be constructed, with the capability to generate a up to 90 megawatts of electricity.
Ridgeline plans to submit an application to the Power County planning and zoning commission in September to construct the wind farm. If the application is approved and a buyer can be found for the electricity to be generated by the wind farm, construction could begin in 2010. Construction will require approximately 100 workers. Williams said the company is committed to hiring locally for the wind farm construction.
Ridgeline Energy, with personnel located in Idaho, Oregon and Washington, focuses on developing utility-scale wind-energy projects in the western United States that meet customer needs and provide significant benefits to host communities and landowners.
