Glen Ephraim Bolingbroke, 77, passed away Thursday evening, July 12, 2012 at a local care facility. He was born April 10, 1935 to Ephraim and Zella Daniels Bolingbroke. He was raised on the family farm in Arbon Valley, and at a young age developed his talents and skills in knowing how electricity worked. He used this skill in working with radios. Also at this young age, he developed a skill in repairing wrist watches which he did for many years. And when television came to the valley, there was not a thing he did not understand about it, and developed an excellent system of receiving signals from Salt Lake City.
Glen always wanted to learn during his life and was an avid reader of everything related to science and electronics. He pursued his education at Idaho State University and received his Electronics Certification, and later he continued his education, receiving his B.S. Degree in Physics.
Glen also had many skills in repairing farm machinery, and he was able to repair all of the farm machinery that broke down. He was able to keep the machinery working for many years on the farm.
While his primary interest was in farming, he continued to increase his education by taking classes at Idaho State University during his active years. He was considered an excellent farmer, and he raised good crops every year. He always said how thankful he was to live in the beautiful Arbon Valley and he never wanted to live anywhere else.
He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, and read all of the scriptures and believed very strongly in the promises for a good life that were written in the books. He knew very well all of the scriptures and studied them all of his life and believed strongly in the new life after this one on Earth.
He is survived by two brothers, John Ronald (Donna) Bolingbroke of Phoenix, AZ, and Dale A. Bolingbroke of Arbon. A brother, Gerald Bolingbroke passed away five years ago, and his wife Pat keeps in close contact with the family. He also has one nephew, and three nieces.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 17, at 2 p.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. The family received friends one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello. Emma L. Clyne, 97, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012. She was born July 12, 1914 to Gustav and Emma Comnick Wegner in Southwick, ID. She attended school there until 1928 when the family moved to Rockland. She graduated from American Falls High School in 1931 and then attended Lewiston Normal Teachers College. In March 1933 she married Leonard Ringe in Clarkston, WA. He died in 1966. In 1968 she married Raymond Clyne and lived in Nampa until he died in 1976. Emma lived in Nampa and Twin Falls until 2002 and then returned to American Falls. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
The survivors include her daughter, Carol (George) Riley, daughter-in-law, Pat Ringe, grandchildren, Robert (Lisa) Riley, Jim (Kelly) Riley, Brenda (Dave) Pace, Kathy (Casey) Standley, Brian (Brenda) Blackwell, great grandchildren, Kelsey Riley, Patric Riley, Karlie Standley, Quinton Standley, Hannah Blackwell; Sisters, Edwardine Sexton, Eleanor Rockwell, sister-in-law Barbara Ringe, many nieces and nephews.
Emma was preceded in death by her husbands, son Fred Ringe, granddaughter Sydney Ringe, parents, four brothers, and four sisters.
The viewing was from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho St., American Falls. The graveside service followed at 2 p.m. at the Falls View Cemetery in American Falls.
Memorials may be made in memory of Emma to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

(May 20, 1934 – June 23, 2012)
Richard Lueking (Dick) Bauer, devoted husband and father, rejoined his Lord the evening of June 23, 2012 at the age of 78. Dick was born in Lehi, UT, raised in Salt Lake City, studied economics at Westminster College, and served in the U.S. Army in the Corps of Engineers in Germany in 1954-1956. He married Lois Saathoff at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City Feb. 5, 1957 and they enjoyed over 55 years of marriage.
A long-time Idahoan, Dick and his family moved to American Falls in 1963 when he purchased Bauer Chevrolet and Oldsmobile, a business he owned for 22 years. Dick was very active in the business community in American Falls, where he served as a volunteer, member and leader of many organizations, boards and commissions. Dick was a private pilot who served many years as a member of the Power County Airport Board and as Chairman of the Idaho Board of Aeronautics.
A life-long Lutheran, Dick was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City; St. John’s Lutheran, American Falls, and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Boise. Dick served on the ELCA EWA-ID Synod Candidacy Comm. and was a member of the Board of Regents of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.
Upon moving to Idaho, Dick became a proud, active participant in the Republican Party. He was elected to many party offices, serving as National Committeeman; State Party Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer; county, regional, and district chairman. Dick’s involvement and interest in politics led him to mentor many political candidates. He was an active member of the Ada County Lincoln Day Association. In 1984, Dick was elected as one of the four Idaho Electors for President Reagan and Vice-President Bush.
In 1990, Dick was appointed by President George H. W. Bush to serve in Seattle, WA, as Regional Administrator for Region X of the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development. Upon returning to Idaho, Dick continued his community service as a member of boards and commissions for Ada County, Boise City, and the State of Idaho. Dick served 12 years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Idaho Housing and Finance Association, only recently leaving their board.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling throughout Idaho and the world; and especially time spent with family and friends at his cabin on the Yankee Fork.
Dick will be greatly missed by his wife Lois and their family: Barbara and Keith Whisenhunt; Jim, Lonna, Hannah and Lydia Bauer; Dan Bauer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Benjamin and Phillip.
The family extends their appreciation for excellent care by Dr. Lee Kornfield, Dr. Charles Eiriksson, Dr. Kara Saperston and the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital.
A Memorial Service was held at 10 a.m. on July 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 707 W. Fort Street, Boise. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Senior Solutions or Immanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Summers Funeral Home. |
