Donald L. Davis
Donald L. Davis, 91, died at his home in Menlo Park, CA, on Feb. 22, 2010. He was born in Aberdeen May 15, 1918 to early pioneer parents, EL and Hazel Davis. Don graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1936 and was a graduate of University of Idaho as a mechanical engineer. He worked as a surveyor several years in Alaska and for more than 30 years for United Air Lines, San Francisco, CA.
He is survived by his five children and a sister, Gwen Davis Reid of Firth.
A memorial is being planned in Idaho when the weather is warmer.
George Letho Speth
George Letho Speth was born May 1, 1921 and passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010.
His parents, George Speth Jr. and Emma Nuttall Speth, along with his twin brother, Dennis Theron Speth, and two sisters, Donna and Virgina, preceded him in death. Surviving are his two sisters, Joy Crockett and Colleen Obray, and one brother, Andrew Morris Speth; six children, Dennis George Speth, Theo Jed Speth, Charlene Wilde, Cheryl Huffaker, Ronald Lynn Speth and Vivian Lee Sharp; 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
George was born in College / Young Ward, UT. He lived there until his marriage to Thelma Chambers in the fall of 1942. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a master gardener. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including a mission covering Singapore, Malaysia and India.
The visitation was Monday evening, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Aberdeen First Ward. The funeral service was held at the Aberdeen First Ward on Tuesday, March 9, at 11 a.m. with a viewing one-hour prior to the service. The graveside was at 3:30 p.m. at the Smithfield Cemetery, Smithfield, UT.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho St. in American Falls.

Laura Jane Short
Laura Jane Short was born on Nov. 5, 1933 in Aberdeen, to Clifford and Janet Gambill. Laura married John Short in 1950. Together they had four daughters: Linda (Guy) Gladden of Montrose, CO; Peggy (Steve) Graves of Twin Falls, ID; Debra (Rich) Stansell of Aberdeen; and Diane (Dave) Wahlen of Caldwell, ID. Laura is survived by five siblings, Maxine Lantor of Kent, WA, Elva Malin of Salt Lake City, UT, Joe Gambill of Kent, WA, Marvin Gambill of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, and Marie Harris of Pocatello, ID.
Laura was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Lisa Hemmert of Pocatello, Jason Simonson of Pocatello, Amie Schritter of Denver, CO, Joshua Schritter of Pocatello, Eric Zamora of Pocatello, Karoline Greenwall of Thornton, CO, Justi Walker of Preston, ID, Nick Zamora of Twin Falls, Mandy Koompin of American Falls, Sara Perez of American Falls, Joshua Graves of Blackfoot, ID,, and Jamie Evans of Arbon Valley, ID, and Ed Short of Pocatello. Laura was also blessed with 34 great-grandchildren.
Laura worked at Western Farmers which is now Simplot in Aberdeen. She worked there for several years and was one of the first female operators. Laura enjoyed spending time with her children and all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to Jackpot, making her famous peanut butter cookies and visiting with numerous friends. Many became like family to her at her residence where she resided in Twin Falls, ID.
Laura was a beautiful strong woman and wonderful mother. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends who dearly loved her.
A memorial service will be held at the Powerhouse Christian Fellowship at 2905 Sunbeam Road, American Falls, at 11 a.m., Friday, March 12. Interment will follow at the Homestead Cemetery at 1948 S. 2900 W. Aberdeen.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho St., American Falls.

Fred Eggers
Fred Eggers, 84, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010.
Funeral arrangements are pending and under the direction of Davis-Rose Mortuary.
Mabel Johnson
Mabel Lida Jones Johnson, 92, longtime Aberdeen resident, passed away at Pocatello Care and Rehab on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.
Mabel was born Jan. 21, 1918 in Hokah, Minnesota to Carl Lorenzo Jones and Muriel Alberta House. She had one sister, Glenna. She spent her school years in Minnesota. She worked for the Bare household in Brainerd, Minnesota, where she met Albert Johnson who also worked there. They were married on Jan. 17, 1942. They had two daughters Karen and Janeal.
In September of 1952 they moved to Idaho and settled in Aberdeen. They ran a dairy farm for many years and retired in 1980.
Due to failing health they moved to Pocatello in February of 2004. After the death of Al, Mabel eventually moved to the home of Rusty and Kathleen (a great-nephew and wife) where she resided until two weeks ago.
She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Aberdeen and enjoyed many hours of crafts and friendships there. She enjoyed reading and handwork. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family and did it joyfully even though it was hard. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Mabel is survived by her daughter, Janeal Johnson of Pocatello; a sister, Glenna Beaver of Sheridan, WY; nieces, Sandra (Joe) Eno of Martinez, CA, and Pam (Rex) Shandy of Freeman, MO; and nephew Randy (Florence) Sundquist of Ranchester, WY; also great-nephew Rusty (Kathleen) Jackman and great-niece Vicki (Jeff) Honeycutt, both of Pocatello; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al, and daughter, Karen.
The funeral service will be on Thursday, March 4, at 11 a.m. in the Aberdeen Legion Hall in Aberdeen. Interment will be at the Aberdeen Cemetery following the service. There will be a viewing Wednesday, March 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho Street, American Falls, and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 prior to the service at the Legion Hall in Aberdeen.
George R. Jackson, 94
George R. Jackson, 94, of Springfield, ID, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at the Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Lakeview LDS Chapel in Springfield, with Bishop Dennis Thurston conducting. Family met with friends and relatives on Friday, Feb. 26, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot, and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment followed at the Springfield Cemetery.
