Ola “Bubbles” Trupp, 85
Ola “Bubbles” Trupp, 85, of Blackfoot, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at Bingham Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Bubbles was born in Sugar City, ID, on Christmas day, December 25, 1924. Bubbles, the youngest of four sisters, was born to Alan and Gladys McQuiston Ricks. She was raised in the Sugar City area and graduated from Sugar Salem High School. She attended school only because she had to, but her real childhood joy was found in herding and tending her family’s sheep flocks along side of her father.
Bubbles married Wilbert Trupp and together they resided in the upper Snake River area and continued to work with the family sheep operation. Following the Teton Dam Flood, Bubbles and Wilbert relocated to the Aberdeen area where they owned a small store and also ran a small farming operation. Eventually Bubbles took a job with the Agricultural Statistics Service and received many awards for her years of dedicated service. During her time in Aberdeen she also drove school bus, primarily for out of town activities.
Wilbert and Bubbles were lifetime friends with Eldon and Ilene Young. Following the death of their spouses, Bubbles and Eldon became companions and enjoyed many good times together in their later years. Bubbles and Eldon, along with Eldon’s son Dell, spent time camping and fishing all over eastern Idaho, primarily at Bayhorse Lakes and Mackay, Henry’s and Blackfoot Reservoirs. They also enjoyed scenic rides around the area and traveled many different routes.
In life Bubbles also enjoyed downhill and cross country snow skiing, gardening, and even though she didn’t always remain active in the sheep industry she continued as a member of the Idaho Wool Growers Association throughout her life. Although she didn’t have any children of her own, she genuinely enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Bubbles is survived by two nieces; Sandy (Jim) James of Challis and Julie (Lloyd) Griffel of Squirrel; a nephew, Mike (Cathie) Mickelsen of Boise; a brother-in-law Donald (Jean) Trupp of St. Anthony; Keith (Mickey) Young of Firth; and Dell Young of Blackfoot; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbert, companion Eldon Young, her three sisters, Bessie Kirkham, Madge Harris - Chronister, and Margaret R. Pincock, and a niece LeeAnn Schwendiman.
According to her wishes cremation services have taken place under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home and no other services will be held.
In Bubbles’ own words, “I came with nothing - I leave with nothing. But I have surely met a lot of fine people along the path and had a great time doing it.”
