Rocky Porter

Rocky Porter fought valiantly against several health battles. He struggled with neuropathy, lung issues and finally pancreatic cancer.
Rocky Porter, 67, was born on Dec 15, 1955 in Pocatello, ID, to Sandra Paulene McMillan Porter and Edgar Robert Grischkowsky. He was raised on his Nana and Papa’s (Paul & Ada McMillan’s) farm in American Falls, ID. He passed on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023.
Rocky was a talented athlete throughout his youth. He lettered in all four sports in high school, but his favorites were football and basketball.
After high school, Rocky attended Idaho State University and received his associates in Justice and Public Safety. He worked on the police force in McCammon, ID, before joining the Air Force.
He spent 12 years in the armed services and was stationed all over the world. He enjoyed Okinawa, Germany, Korea, Israel and many stateside assignments.
Rocky married Kelly Annen and they had a son, Corey. They lived in Pocatello, ID, and then in Okinawa, Japan. They later divorced.
Rocky changed his last name to Porter. He loved his stepdad and was close to him and they were supportive of each other.
Rocky met his wife (Camille Phillips) of 36 years while in the military. They married in April 1986 in Montgomery, AL. Their son, Keenan, was born May 14, 1991.
Rocky spent his professional career in law enforcement. He worked as a city police officer, Alabama State Trooper, at the Alabama State Capitol, served at the Alabama Governor’s Mansion and Troy State University.
In addition, Rocky owned and operated several businesses. He managed auto sales, owned a carpet cleaning company and owned “Blue Rock”, a landscaping business.
Rocky was known as a compassionate man. He was an amazing family man. He loved serving others. He was immensely proud to be an American. He had great wit and a keen sense of humor. He also had a love of and owned many sharp vehicles.
He took great pride in his grandchildren (Payton, Jackson, Addison, Dawson and Weston).
Rocky was preceded in death by: his stepdad (Lynn Porter); grandparents (Ada Snow McMillan/Paul Mc Millan and Paulina Grischkowsky); uncle Bill/Abbie McMillan; aunt Marva Dee/Don Kramer and grandson Kason Porter.
He is survived by: his wife (Camille Phillips); sons (Keenan/Vanessa Porter and Corey Permann); grandchildren (Jackson, Addison, Dawson, Weston and Payton); mother, (Sandra Paulene McMillan Porter); sisters (Cherri/Mark Oskins, Rasonda Crandall); and nieces and nephews (James and Caitlin Oskins and Michael Crandall).
