W. Scott Rudeen, M.D. 11-8-23

Scott Rudeen was born April 2, 1947, the first of seven children to Claire Scott Rudeen and Mary Lou Jones Rudeen. He passed away at home in Twin Falls on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023.
Scott graduated from American Falls High School in 1965. He attended the Idaho State University School of Pharmacy for two years and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1969. Scott was then accepted into the University of Washington Medical School. Scott remained a loyal Idaho Vandal and Washington Husky throughout his life. He attended his medical school 50th class reunion this summer in Seattle, a city he always loved and frequently visited.
Scott served his medical residency in Greely, CO. He moved to Twin Falls, initially working at Valley Community Hospital before going into private practice.
Scott established Physicians Immediate Care on Yellowstone Avenue, in Pocatello, one of the first such clinics in the area. Scott eventually opened an Immediate Care Facility in Twin Falls. He dedicated himself full time to the Falls Avenue Immediate Care for the past 25 years.
As a youth, Scott spent winter months in the El Centro California School System when the family would move their sheep operation to the Imperial Valley for lambing. Although the stays were only a few months in the winter, Scott made strong lasting friendships.
Scott had deep appreciation for Rudeen family history and heirlooms. He was proud of the family ranch and the annual family BBQ. He also spent much time restoring and maintaining the family cabin on Echo Lake, MT. Scott became a pilot and ultimately used his own plane to make trips to Montana.
Scott’s love of music and travel included a recent trip to see the Beach Boys in concert. His summer work as a student was working on his Uncle Byron Jones’s fishing boat in Cordova, Alaska. He also made trips to Scotland and Germany with his cousin Shannon Jones.
He enjoyed his work and was especially good at caring for patients. Scott was always willing to see those who needed care the most. Scott’s care reached beyond medical issues. He was genuinely interested in others and their needs.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Claire Scott and Mary Lou Rudeen, and brother Bruce Thomas. He is survived by brothers Robert Douglass (Vivian Kremer) of San Francisco, CA; Kent Alan (Francine Ames) of American Falls, ID; David Christopher (Christine Wolf) of Boise, ID; and Timothy Roger (Deborah Vollmer) of American Falls, ID and sister Helen Elise (Curt Braun) of Richmond, TX.
Scott’s family extends heartfelt gratitude for the love and friendship of his “extended family” at Falls Avenue Immediate Care and The Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Special thanks go out to Jenni and Ona at Falls Avenue Immediate Care. Scott was a consummate big brother, and his guidance, generosity, and friendship will be deeply missed.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 3, at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Twin Falls, ID, at 11 a.m.
Memorials can be made to The Episcopal Church of the Ascension or The Mary Lou Rudeen Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Idaho.
