Yvonne Cox Lyman, a beloved individual, known for her kind and loving spirit, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and love. She was born on April 11, 1936, in Shoup, ID, and departed from this world in American Falls, ID.
Yvonne’s journey was filled with remarkable experiences and achievements. After graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1954, she embarked on a fulfilling career. Yvonne worked as a telephone operator in Pocatello and at Farmers Insurance in Human Resources and drove the Book Mobile, a mobile library that brought the joy of reading to surrounding towns. Her dedication to her work and community touched the lives of many.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Yvonne’s true passion lay in her family and hobbies. She was an exceptional cook whose culinary creations brought joy to all who tasted them. Yvonne adored sewing, knitting, and quilting; activities that allowed her creativity to flourish.
Yvonne’s vibrant personality illuminated every room she entered. Described as someone who could talk to anyone and never met a stranger, she had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, always eager to visit her house where they were enveloped in her affectionate embrace.
On June 15, 1956, she married Wayne Lyman. In 1977, Yvonne and Wayne were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple. Together they shared a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Wayne preceded her in death but leaves behind cherished memories.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband Wayne, son Clayton Lyman; sisters Olladeane Dobie and Elaine Whitehead; brother Benton Cox.
Yvonne is survived by her daughters Denice (Terry) Anderson and Lori (Troy) Beck; son Tom (Shawna) Lyman; sisters Nellivee Rackley and Dearah Walls; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The memory of Yvonne Cox Lyman will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Her kindness, love for family, delicious meals, and creative talents will be cherished by all who were privileged to have her touch their lives.
The visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Aberdeen Chapel on Friday, March 1, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. The address is 149 W Central Ave., Aberdeen, ID 83210.
