George David Barrett passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. He was born April 4, 1938 to David H. and Johanna Marie (Andersen) Barrett in American Falls, ID.
George grew up on the Barrett Homestead in the Lake Channel area and graduated from American Falls High School in 1956. George joined the military after high school and served as a medic for several years. After his stint in the Army, he met Judith L. Fisher and they were married Aug. 13, 1964. Together they built a life they loved where they raised their family.
George worked various agricultural jobs throughout his life. He was the sexton of the Falls View Cemetery and then retired from 20 plus years at Snake River Cattle Company. George loved to fish and hunt, being outdoors, feeling the sunshine was therapeutic for him. He never shied away from hard work and was always willing to lend a hand. He loved to laugh and was forever the jokester.
George was preceded in death by his wife Judith; his parents Dick and Marie Barrett; his sisters Elsie (Herb) Schritter Jarvis, Lois (Frank) Gobel, and Mary (Mac) McConnell; and his brother Ralph (Susan) Barrett. George is survived by his sister-in-law Susan Barrett; his sons Andrew (Tina) Barrett and Matthew (Suzette) Barrett; his daughters Rita Collins and Rhonda (Joseph) Byers; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Davis Rose Mortuary in American Falls on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024 at 10 a.m. Immediately following the viewing will be a short interment at the Falls View Cemetery.
