Melvin was a very kind and loving man. He loved visiting with everyone. He enjoyed going to coffee with the men. He loved talking about growing up on the Haney Ranch. He would be so proud when he talked about running horses with his father. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers. He loved to go hunting and fishing with them. He always talked about perfect spots for hunting, fishing and camping. He was a very talented gardener. He enjoyed playing with his sisters too. Mel and all of his brothers and sisters enjoyed spending time together.

Melvin was a member of the Aberdeen Legion. He was so proud to help with funerals and encouraged people to come to the meetings.

Melvin loved reading. Once he started reading it was difficult for him to stop. He was a cowboy. You rarely saw him without his cowboy hats.

He planted a rose bush every year. There was not a plant he couldn’t identify.

Every night before he went to bed he would go outside and look up at the stars.

Melvin and Michelle have resided in Blackfoot and Sterling. In later years he was the assistant coach for his son Mark’s basketball team and helped his daughter train and take care of the horses.
