Jalene Michaelson Phillips

Jalene Michaelson Phillips went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 30, 2014, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 15, 1960 in Pocatello, ID, to Robert and Doris Long Michaelson. She was the third child, joining older brother Von and sister Debbie. She was raised in American Falls, ID. Her parents later divorced. Her mother married Don Garrison in 1975.

Her father married Ava Facer Edwards in 1974. With this marriage she was blessed with five more siblings; Denise, Bruce, Marla, Vance and Becky.

She attended schools in American Falls and graduated from American Falls High School in 1978.

On September 15, 1979 she married the love of her life James (Jim) Earl Phillips. They were blessed with two daughters, Shanel born Dec. 8, 1982, and Katie born Jan. 19, 1984. They enjoyed many activities as a family, including traveling, camping, boating and big family gatherings.

She worked several various jobs in her lifetime, some of her favorites being: Prudential Insurance, Eastern Idaho Electrical JATC, Anderson Lumber, Butler Builders and her most recent being Key Med. She gained many lifelong friends through her various career adventures.

One of the greatest joys in her life were her grandchildren, the first being twins, Lexus Nickole and Makayia Ann Anderson in 2002, followed by Evan James in 2007, Braelynn Maria in 2010 and Carson Bobby in 2011. She always told them she loved them to the moon and back.

She touched many people’s lives and was always willing to lend a helping hand or help someone in need. She was loving and caring and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Jim; daughter Shanel Blair and her children Lexus, Makayia and Braelynn; daughter Katie (Bobby) Simms and their children, Evan and Carson; her mother Doris Garrison; Mother In Law Sarah Phillips; brothers, Von (Laurie) Michaelson and Vance (Lorri) Edwards; sisters Debbie (Brent) Moore, Denise (Steve) Walker, Marla (Brett) Arnold and Rebecca (Tony) Longshaw; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father and step-mother Robert and Ava Michaelson, step father Don Garrison, father-in-law Earl Phillips, brother Bruce Edwards, brother-in-law David Phillips, nephews Jacob Arnold and Colton Combs.

We Love You To The Moon And Back!

A viewing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave., Pocatello. The funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Home with a viewing one hour prior to services starting at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
